For everyone

Made for anyone who wants to know the story

The Bible is one big story, but most of us meet it in pieces: a reading at Mass, a famous scene, a name we half remember. Heavenward connects the pieces, five minutes at a time.

Families

Do a lesson together at the kitchen table. Kids can learn right alongside a parent, no account needed.

Teens and students

Get ready for Confirmation, keep up with youth group, or join your class with a code (ages 13 and up).

Adults and seniors

Five minutes with your morning coffee, at your own pace. No pressure, ever.

Newcomers

New to the Bible, or to the Church? Everything is explained in plain words, and you can tap any name to see who's who.

Lifelong Catholics

See how the readings you've heard for years fit together, from Abraham to the early Church.

Parishes and schools

Give a class a shared weekly goal and run live quizzes on a projector. See the parish tools.

What's inside

The whole story, the whole Bible, and a little help along the way

Lessons from Creation to Revelation

8 units and 71 short lessons follow the whole story: the first families, Abraham, the Exodus, the kings and prophets, exile and return, the Gospels, the early Church and the New Jerusalem. Know some of it already? A placement test lets you jump ahead.

The full Catholic Bible

All 73 books, including the deuterocanonical ones. Highlight in five colors, write notes, bookmark and search. There's an optional Douay-Rheims text, too.

Tap a name

Who was Jethro again? Tap a name in the Bible to see a short card on who someone is and where they fit in the story. 259 people and places so far.

Prayers and the Rosary

Learn the Our Father, the Hail Mary, the Creed and more, line by line, then pray the Rosary bead by bead. Learning a prayer earns XP; praying is never scored.

Mass readings and the Church year

See today's Mass readings and open them right in the Bible. Follow the seasons and feasts on the Church calendar, with guides to Confession and the Mass. Lumen even glows violet in Advent and Lent.

Saints

Meet the saint of the day, browse 251 saints, and take a quiz to help you find a Confirmation saint.

Streaks that rest on Sunday

Sunday is a day of rest, so missing it never breaks your streak. You also get a grace day each week, because life happens. No guilt, no hearts, no ads.

Private by design

Without an account, your progress stays on your device, and your reflection journal never leaves it. No ads, no ad tracking and no third-party analytics.

Learn together

Add friends with a code and cheer each other on (never a ranking), or join a parish or school class. Accounts are for ages 13 and up.

How a lesson works

Five minutes, one step of the story

Every lesson is a short, playful round. Here's what one looks like.

  1. Set the scene

A quick card shows where you are in the story and who's who.

  2. Play with the passage

Fill in a missing word from a real verse, build a verse from word tiles, put events in order, match pairs, or answer a quick question.

  3. See the bigger picture

Find out how the passage connects to the rest of the Bible and to the faith, with Catechism paragraph numbers to look up.

  4. Think about it

A reflection question that's never graded. Jot your own answer in a private journal, if you like.

  5. Try again, no hearts lost

Anything you missed comes back at the end for another go. Then celebrate: XP, your streak and a very happy lantern.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Who is Heavenward for?

Anyone who wants to know the story of the Bible: families learning together, kids with a parent, teens, adults and seniors, people who are new to the faith and lifelong Catholics. Parishes and schools can use it with their classes, too.

How much does it cost?

Heavenward is free to download and use. Free users get 3 new lessons a day, and the whole Bible, the Mass readings, your notes, review, practice, streaks and everything about prayer are always free.

An optional subscription, Heavenward Plus, adds unlimited new lessons, listening to any chapter, the story map and timeline, more reading plans, the full saint stories and extra styles. You'll always see the price before you buy.

Do I need an account?

No. Anyone can use Heavenward with no account, and your progress stays on your device. An optional account, for ages 13 and up, backs up your progress and notes, syncs them between devices, and lets you join a class or add friends.

Can kids use it?

Yes, with a grown-up. Kids can learn alongside a parent or guardian on the family's device, with no account. Accounts, classes and friends are for ages 13 and up.

Is it Catholic?

Yes. Heavenward is written in the Catholic tradition and aligned with the Catechism of the Catholic Church. Lessons cite Catechism paragraph numbers, so you can look things up yourself.

Is it approved by the Church?

Not yet, and we'd rather be upfront about it. Heavenward is an independent app. It doesn't have an imprimatur or the approval of any bishop or diocese. The lessons are awaiting theological review, and a priest will review them before parishes use Heavenward.

Which Bible does it use?

The World English Bible, Catholic Edition: a public-domain translation with all 73 books. You can also read the Douay-Rheims (1899). Every verse comes straight from the Bible text. We never retype or reword it.

What about my privacy?

No ads, no ad tracking and no third-party analytics, and we never sell your information. Anonymous crash reports and a few daily usage numbers are sent only if you switch them on in Settings, and nothing in them can be traced to you. The Privacy Policy has every detail.

What devices does it run on?

iPhone and iPad, with iOS 17 or later. It isn't on Android yet.

Is it in Spanish?

Partly. The app's screens, the prayers, the first five units and the guides to Confession and the Mass are in Spanish so far, with more on the way.

Why does my streak rest on Sunday?

Sunday is the Lord's Day, a day of rest, like the seventh day in the creation story (Genesis 2). Missing a lesson on a Sunday never breaks your streak, and you get a grace day every week, too.

When can I get it?

Soon! Heavenward is getting ready for the App Store. We'll put the link right here as soon as it's live.
